Places to Explore Near Cinnamon Lodge
Cinnamon Lodge is very close to where the Outaouais and Laurentians meet. If you’d like to get out and about, there’s plenty to do beyond the cottage. Our Laurentian cottage rental (notre chalet à louer Laurentides) is a wonderful location for visiting nearby towns, exploring nature and enjoying exhilarating extreme sports such as ziplining and rock climbing.
Explore Lac Du Poisson Blanc
Parc Regionale du Poisson Blanc is a beautiful series of lakes (82sq km with 100 islands) just off the Lievre River. When boating from the cottage, you can reach it from the Reservoir des Sables which is just beyond our lake. From your boat, you can access hiking trails and rock climbing or have an island picnic. We have laminated maps to help. (Nous avons des cartes de peche pour vous aider à notre chalet à louer laurentides) If you don’t have a boat, you can still visit and rent a kayak, canoe or paddle board to explore the islands and hiking trails. They even have a system to link together canoes so 2 adults, 2 kids and a dog (or 4 adults) can be attached and boat together! Visit their website for more details.
Daytrip to the Réserve faunique de Papineau-Labelle
The wildlife reserve is home to white-tailed deer, moose, and beaver. The lakes are filled with speckled trout and lake trout. The area has over 60km of hiking trails and in winter, you’ll find over 100km of marked but ungroomed cross country ski trails. The reserve is large and in winter, a 45min drive north will bring you to Expédition Rêve Blanc where you can discover the trails and lakes of the Papineau-Labelle Wildlife Sanctuary by dog sled!
Zipline at Arbraska LaFleche
Located 1 hour away in Val des Monts is Abraska LaFleche, home to ziplines, aerial swings, suspension bridges and nets for children and adults alike. You can even enjoy it at night or in winter! You can challenge your friends and family to a forest adventure using a provided map, and solve fun riddles along the way. Abraska LaFleche also offers cave exploration in the Canadian Shield’s largest visited cave.
Wander Nearby Towns
Each little town you pass en route to Cinnamon Lodge is worthy of a stop. These quaint Quebecois villages are filled with local shops and amazing family restaurants and casse-croutes (small takeout locations). Notre-Dame-du-Laus is a short 10 minutes from the cottage. Wander the waterfront, visit the local parks and stop at the casse-croute attached to Dépanneur Larocque or the Boulangerie Daoust for yummy pastries. Val-des-Bois is 30 minutes from Cinnamon Lodge and home of the Reserve Faunique Papineau-LaBelle. Wander the small streets and make a stop at the little chocolate shop, Chocolaterie Creation Nelle, or the Boulangerie Val-des-Bois. Mont-Laurier is 50 minutes north of the chalet. It is larger than the other towns and hosts a variety of sights and activities. Wander the discovery walks “Les Promenades découvertes”, enjoy the free summer concerts in the park, visit a blueberry farm in August and explore the small shops like the Boutique des Terroirs which carries local products including honey, beer, chocolate, spices, maple syrup, cheeses and fine meats. Yum!

Play Golf
There are two golf courses near Cinnamon Lodge. If you love to golf, you’ll want to check them out. Golf Royal Papillon is about 55min south in the nearby town of Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette. You’ll find the Golf de la Lièvre in Mont-Laurier, a 50min drive north. After a round, make sure to wander the local area!
Go Skating
Notre-Dame-du-Laus has an outdoor skating rink every winter. Skate rental is available but all sizes may not be available.
