Frequently Asked Questions
While we’ve tried to answer many of the questions we’ve received, we’re happy to answer any questions and concerns you may have. Just reach out to Cinnamon Lodge Quebec by email or by using our contact form and we’ll get back to you as quickly as possible.
Can we bring our boat?
Yes! We have a boat launch on site. You can bring your vehicle down the path, past the firepit and launch your boat. That’s how they delivered our dock! We also have space in our driveway area for 10+ vehicles so no worry where to store your boat trailer once you arrive. We do ask that you wash your boat in accordance with local bylaws to ensure non-transfer of invasive species.
Is the drinking water safe?
Absolutely! We have our kids here too! There is an artisian well that brings the water to the cottage. It then goes through a UV water filter before going to all the taps in the cottage. In addition, the previous owner installed a filtration system under the kitchen sink which works for an additional tap installed there.
Where can we get a fishing license?
Fishing licenses are mandatory. They are available at the Bonichoix and the Depanneur LaRoche in Notre-Dame-du-Laus, just 10 minutes from the cottage. Cinnamon Lodge Quebec provides laminated fishing maps for Lac à Charette as well as Lac des Sables, the Lievre River and Lac Poisson Blanc. There are over 40km of waterways accessible from the cottage. The maps will show you water depths and the types of fish that you’ll find.
What is the lake like?
Lac à Charette is beautiful! It flows from Lac des Sables which is part of the Lievre River system. It is calm and peaceful which allows for kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and swimming. Our shoreline is 250ft long. It is pure sand with a little rock right at the shoreline. Lac des Sables, and therefore Lac à Charette, has varying water levels throughout the year due to a hydro dam (not near our lake). As such, our beach varies from no beach, to 25ft of amazing sand beach. Even when the water is high, there is a shallow entry area near the boat ramp area. Please have a look at the photos in the Gallery to see the levels of beach at different times of year. Along with the kayaks and SUP that we offer, you are welcome to bring your own watercraft. The lake is deep at the end of the dock and the lake is perfect for seadooing, water skiing and other fun activities.

Where can I buy things?
Cinnamon Lodge is only 10 minutes from the nearest village. The Bonichoix is the largest grocery store in the area. It is also an SAQ, as such, a variety of alchohol is also available. Further south is the Depanneur LaRoche. They have a smaller selection of food but provide fishing licenses as well as an amazing takeout including poutine and burgers. The village also has a pharmacy (next door to the Bonichoix), a boulangerie for amazing baked goods, a BMR for hardware goods, La Poissonerrie (a new fish supplier), and more.

Can I bring my pet?
It depends. While we love animals of all kinds, two of our kids are severely allergic to most animals with fur including cats and many dogs. While there’s truly no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog, we are open to allowing some dogs, depending on size and breed. Reach out to us and we’ll be happy to discuss it further.
Are there any rules that are different/strange?
Our daughter is severely allergic to peanuts, pistachios and cashews. As such, all three are absolutely not permitted at Cinnamon Lodge. Note that almonds, walnuts, pecans and other tree nuts are not an issue, as such, there is no limit on all tree nuts, just the pisachios and cashews (along with the peanuts) We are trusting you to abide by this rule. If you must have these foods, please book elsewhere.
